For most people the CPO exam is not conceptually hard, it is math-anxiety hard. It is open-book with 50 questions and a 74% passing score (37 of 50), and the knowledge questions are answerable from the handbook. The section people fail is the pool-math word problems, where a misplaced decimal or a gallons-versus-cubic-feet slip turns a right method into a wrong answer.
