Pool Operator Prep is an independent study resource for people sitting a pool-operator certification exam: the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) Certified Pool Operator, and the comparable National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Aquatic Facility Operator. Our one job is to get you through the math section that fails people, with correct, current, sourced information and free practice, not a sales pitch.

Who runs it

Pool Operator Prep is operated by Urban Algorithm LLC and maintained by the Pool Operator Prep editorial team. We are an independent publisher. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or administered by PHTA, NRPA, or any government agency or health department, and we never imply otherwise. When we name an exam or a body, it is for accuracy, not to suggest a partnership that does not exist. We do not certify anyone: certification requires the instructor-led course, and this site is a supplement to it.

Our editorial standards

These are the rules that govern every exam fact and figure we publish. They are the reason a page here can be trusted the day you read it.

Every figure is sourced and dated

Exam format, passing score, fees, and recertification facts each cite a primary source and carry a visible last-reviewed date. A stale figure teaches a wrong answer, so provenance is not optional.

Checked against the primary source

We confirm each fact directly against the credentialing body or a health department and stamp it with the date we last checked it, rather than carrying numbers forward on trust.

Confirmed vs reported, never blurred

Where a body does not publish a number, we say so and label commonly cited figures as reported, not official, rather than dressing them up as fact.

No faked credibility signals

No invented pass-rate statistics, no fake reviews, no claimed affiliation. Corrections are welcome and we fix errors quickly.

How we write practice questions and problems

Every practice question and pool-math problem on this site is original, written from scratch against the public exam blueprints and the underlying water-chemistry and hydraulics facts, which are facts and not copyrightable. Nothing is copied, scraped, or reworded from PHTA or NRPA materials, any course provider, or any competitor bank. We record the source basis for each item. Original questions are a legal-safety and accuracy standard we hold ourselves to, not a marketing claim.

How we make money

The content, the pool-math trainer, and the practice test are free and ungated. Where we might recommend a genuinely useful paid service (for example a test kit), we would use a disclosed affiliate link and earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and only when we believe it actually helps. We do not sell your data, and we do not collect your email.
